The pre-war Commissioner Zygmunt Maciejewski (Przemysław Sadowski), who was imprisoned in the Lublin Castle, signs a pact with the devil – a cunning Grabarz (Mirosław Zbrojewicz). Such is the price not so much of his survival, but above all, the salvation of his wife (Matylda Damięcka) and the newborn child. Maciejewski undertakes to solve the mystery that leads to the ruthless Walakowa (Agnieszka Wielgosz) and her accomplices who are preparing the slaughter of Jews in Lublin.
