History

As defined In Vitro (latin – in glass), is functioning outside the body of the institutional theatre, thus “working with living cells isolated from the parent organism.”

The InVitro Stage operates from year 2007 (primarily named InVitro Prapremiere Stage) in the cultural center in Lublin and also as a Foundation of the InVitro Stage.

We invite to the cooperation the most interesting artists of the younger generation, as well as recognized directors, playwrights and actors who work with previously unpresented texts in Poland. This is an innovative and unprecedented theatrical profile, together with artists from all over Poland, a grid of cooperating theatre stages exchanging the repertoire. The initiator and director of the InVitro Stage is theatre director Łukasz Witt-Michałowski, chairman of the InVitro Stage Foundation.

The mayor of Lublin and the Marshal of the Lublin Voivodeship has taken honorary patronage over our theatre.
